About Art Lectio

Hello, I’m Tom

I’m Tom Gibbs, an artist and educator based in Brisbane, and the founder of Art Lectio.

My studies in Italy and Greece nurtured a lasting love for the Renaissance, and a question that continues to guide my work: how might an encounter with beauty change the way we live?

Through Art Lectio, I invite you to spend time with an artwork. We begin by looking closely, allowing what we notice to guide our reflection. A painted gesture of care might ask something of the way we care for another person. The attention we give to a face might accompany us into our next conversation.

This is what I hope to cultivate here: faithful looking, practised with art and carried into life.

Art to live with

The print collection offers another way to spend time with these works: on the walls of your home or study.
